A Girls Getaway

We had the BEST girls getaway last weekend. We've been planning it for a while now and it was everything we hoped it would be. A San Diego stay-cation on the beach in Coronado, pampering with a side of pampering and the best food this town has to offer. Perfection I tell ya! I really have the coolest friends. The most chill, easy going, fun batch of gal pals around.

Day one ~Liz flew in Thursday evening and stayed over at my casa. Then we got up early Friday morning and headed to Pacific Beach for some delectable breakfast burritos from Taco Surf. We had some time to kill during the day Friday until Stephanie and Kristi could join us, so we said bye to my boys and drove up to Del Mar for shopping, Sprinkles cupcakes and some pampering.
Have you heard of DryBar? It's genius. You can go have the complete salon experience for a great price without having to get a cut or color.  Man I could go there everyday.

After Drybar we ran to Coronado and checked into our hotel before heading to pick up Steph and Kristi for dinner.

There was squealing and shouting when we finally all got together. We seriously reverted back to teeny boppers the whole weekend. It was hilarious. These Mom's obviously needed to get away.

We had dinner at Cheesecake Factory and then headed to D Bar for dessert. I'm telling you that Bananas Foster is dangerous. DANGEROUS. I consumed approximately 10 billion calories this weekend. It was awesome.

Day 2~ We started the morning with some French pastries at Tartine in Coronado and then headed to Point Loma for massages and lunch at Con Pane. We sat and chatted over lunch for almost 3 hours. We never get to do that with the minions so we took full advantage of all the relaxing dining experiences.

After lunch we headed to Hillcrest for pedicures and then back to the hotel to get ready for our fancy dinner at Cucina Urbana, no doubt one of the best restaurants in San Diego. I had the pear + gorgonzola + caramelized onion + candied pecan + arugula + aged balsamic pizza.

We stayed up late Saturday night watching funny YouTube videos until we were blue in the face. Then we took some hilarious pics on Liz's iPad with photo-booth. Let's just say we laughed so hard that one of us tooted. Not naming names.

Day 3~ We got up early and had breakfast st Snooze in Hillcrest. Probably the best breakfast eatery in town. If you happen to go, make sure and order the cinnamon roll pancake. It's not on the menu. You can do half sweet-half savory so I paired it with my favorite eggs benedict.

After breakfast we ran back over to the hotel and got showered and ready for our last girls trip excursions. We all went to Dry Bar for blow-outs round two. This time I sat out in the parking lot and sprayed extra hairspray all up in my hair afterwards. Lesson learned from Friday--they never use enough hairspray. We dropped Liz off at the airport and then had one last meal at Burger Lounge in Little Italy. We didn't want the weekend to end so we took our sweet time eating before I dropped everyone off.
Lela + Liz =stripe loving twinners.

Talk about icing on the cake...it was pure butter-cream coming home to my sweet happy boys, a clean house (my "superize" as Brenner noted) and lots of hugs and kisses. I could put the whole weekend on repeat and be one happy girl.

  1. OH my gosh- you girls are so cute! So glad you had such a fun girls weekend! Looks absolutely amazeballs. I've been meaning to go to the drybar- maybe right before or after baby when I need a pick-me-up ;) I'll call ya.

  2. This seriously was the BEST weekend. My heart hurts looking back at these pictures because I miss you all so much already! And that "welcome home superize" from your kids has me melting. They're the best! Kiss Zane for me and tell Daysen that I'm ready for another Rip Stick lesson the next time I'm in town! :)
