13 Years

Sean and I celebrated our 13 year anniversary last week. I usually have just one request when it comes to my Anniversary...I want to go out to a nice dinner. I'm easy, huh? We didn't have time for gifts or cards this year, and I did feel the teensiest bit bad about that. I did, however, unplug the clogged sink in the master bathroom. Winning.

Someone ordered airplane hearts over my house that day, so I just pretended they were from Sean. If he were to actually pay real money for that, I might murder him. After 13 years, he's a smart enough hubster to know better.
A Sonic finally opened up in San Diego and ON my anniversary. So, as an anniversary gift to ME, I got a big fat Dirty Dr Pepper and then picked myself some flowers from my yard. Sometimes you have to take matters into your own hands.
Sean and I always go to Fleming's for our anniversary. They haven't let us down yet--very romantical and the food is top notch. I think American Express caught on that we go every year on our Anni, because they sent us a $40 off coupon to Fleming's the day before our anniversary. Couple that with the fact that Costco sells $100 Fleming's gift cards for $80 and it was basically the same price as Applebee's. Winning.

After dinner we went to our favorite foot massage place where I got the best head rub ever in life. Just check out all that volume.
I love Sean, but I really LIKE him too. He's funny and interesting and super fun to be around. Of all my besties, he's number one. Love you, Boo!

My Boo turns 32

So, this weekend was Seanny Nonny's 32nd day of birth.

I took him on a din-din date to D bar...
Made him a birthday breakfast of Crêpes...
Planned a Sunday Dinner Potluck with our pals...
...and made him his favorite BBQ chicken + Ribbies.

Erin made him a German Chocolate cake that was heavenly perfection.
 We sang him Hacky Burffday.
...and Indy thought we were singing to him.
Maybe you can't tell, but my love language might just be feeding the heck out of you. Good thing he loves to be fed. Happy Birthday, Babe! We love your guts.

The End.

Celebrating 31

My birthday consisted of the perfect amount of hoopla this year. On my actual birthday, Sean and I went on a double date with Stephanie and Parker. Usually, my only birthday request is that I don't have to cook and that we eat somewhere super yummy. Easy Peasy. We went to D Bar and ended the night with the cake and shake. Perfection.
I double dipped and celebrated with girlfriends on Friday night. We had dinner at Burger Lounge and then an after party devouring this awesome cake that Becca made for me. How'd she know my favorite cake is chocolate with white frosting and coconut. She reads minds. I'm convinced.
One year older and wiser too...

The End.

Celebration + Fun Cramming

Last week our friends, Kristian & Erin, got some much anticipated news of a new job. Luckily the new job will be here in San Diego, but they will have to move away for a short time. Commence tear fest! We have just a little over a week to cram in every minute of fun before they have to go. So we kicked off the celebration at D Bar for date night. Our favorite thing was an appetizer of Brussels sprouts topped with hazelnuts and a garlic+honey+Sriracha sauce. Must replicate! Then we were dessert twins because the milk chocolate mousse with salted caramel is just that good.
Then we spent Saturday in Coronado relaxing on the beach.
Or trying anyways. Kids usually can't handle the sight of a parent actually relaxing. Relaxation must be destroyed!

Then I caught this picture of Signe looking beautiful.
 Like her mother.
 Man I love them.
We pooled and BBQ'd after the beach. I'm a fan of pool after beach. No better way to rinse sand out of kids butt cracks...or mine for that matter.
We watched movies all weekend and made Sunday Dinner together. Basically we feel we have to spend every waking moment together. I mean, we do right?!?

Side note: This is my 100th post on Lelalove. Go me!

The End.

Four plus four: A Palmer visit

Our good friends, the Palmers, came to visit this weekend en route to their family vacation. We've missed the heck out of them since they moved back to Vegas after law school. We had so many fun times while they were here. Carolyn and I were super close and we both at the time had three kids each and crazy husbands who were pals. Our boys were the best of friends and it was so sad to when they had to say goodbye. Since then we've each added a new sweet baby boy to the mix; hence the four plus four. We had quite the houseful, but it was awesome! When they arrived I snuggled up baby Ollie and got oodles of big beautiful smiles.
We packed up all the crazy kids, fed them Smash Burger and then headed to the pool.
Look at Indy's death grip on Sean's arm. Even though he looks terrified, he loves it, I assure you.
Sean was laying under water while holding Indy up with one hand. Indy would look down at Sean and smile and then look up at me and laugh. Twas cute.

Lots and lots and LOTS of boys.
We got the kids home and settled with the sitters, Kylie and Daysen, and then headed downtown to the waterfront for a beautiful sunset dinner at Ruth's Chris. Yumtown fo show! I think my very favorite thing was the seared ahi tuna with mustard sauce. I was practically licking the plate...just kidding...but seriously. They were so kind to take us out for letting them stay at our house, but we got the better end of the deal furrr-sure.

The next morning all 12 of us got up and got ready for early church and made it there ON TIME with all those kids. I was patting myself on the back all day for that one. We are so lucky to live in a place where people love to vacation! I love seeing people I love and I love the Palmers. The End.

Navy Shenanigans

Sean and I attended a Change of Command dinner this weekend. I just don't know if I'll ever be excited before going to formal Navy events but I'm usually glad I went after. I think like most women I stress myself out looking for a dress that's just right and shoes that don't make me tower over Sean. Guys have it SO easy - shower, shave and put on your uniform. Jerks. Anyway, after sending several dressing room photo shoots to my gal pals I found a dress I liked.

The event was held in the upstairs Alhambra room at The Prado Restaurant in Balboa Park. There was a preset menu - I had the red wine braised boneless beef short ribs with potato puree & roasted root veggies. Sean had the Halibut with pea risotto. They were both pretty good - although for $80 a plate I wasn't overly impressed. I was kind of peeved that wine was free with dinner but they wanted to charge me for a diet coke. Really? What evs.

After dinner they had a hilarious video presentation and some goodbye speeches in honor of the Commanding Officer. Good stuff.
We had our own after party at D Bar in Hillcrest. That darn bananas foster just keeps me coming back. You guys it has a fresh waffle with chocolate cream sandwiched in between then drizzled with malt creme anglaise, caramelized nanners and salted caramel ice cream. So freakin' yummy people!

Then we hauled buns home before we turned into pumpkins. The End.
